Disney Plus launches in Latin America, its subscriber base set Uday

Walt Disney Co’s streaming service was launched in Latin America this week, which includes important markets in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Colombia. With the launch of Latin America, Disney Plus now exists in nine of the world’s ten major economies. In addition to streaming existing Disney Plus content, which is available globally, the platform is aggressive on building local content from homegrown content creators. The global streaming platform already has 70 original shows in development in Latin America, specifically, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Colombia, the four largest markets in Latin America.

Peru: $ 25.90 / month or PEN $ 259.90 / year

Mexico: MXN $ 159.00 / month or MXN $ 1,599.00 / year

Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Panama: USD $ 5.99 / month or USD $ 59.99 / year

Uruguay: USD $ 7.49 / month or USD $ 74.99 / year

In all other Latin American countries, users can subscribe for $ 5.99 / month or USD $ 59.99 / year.

With the Latin American launch, Disney Plus is hoping to see a major push into its subscriber base. India’s launch alone added 8 million paid subscribers to Disney Plus’ global subscription numbers. Latin America is certainly an important market for Disney Plus as far as its membership numbers increase. In its earnings report last Thursday, Disney reported that the streaming service reached 73.5M subscribers, well ahead of 65.5M expectations.
