‘Gossip Girl’: Original Play

The 2007 series followed the lives of a group of high school students from wealthy families and people living in the posh Upper East Side neighborhood of New York City. In the series, The Gossip Girl ‘, voiced by Kristen Bell, was a blogger who revealed all the deep and dark secrets of the Upper East Siders. The series made its new-faced cast superstars, including Blake Lively, Leighton Meister, Penn Badley, Chase Crawford, Taylor Momsen and Ed Westwick.

During its run, the show’s popularity knew no bounds and became one of the most popular teen dramas in the world. The show gained attention not only because of its good-looking cast and melodramatic plot, but also for its inclusion of trendsetting fashion. The show became a pop-culture phenomenon and was later referenced in countless films and television series.

The series has previously been called “Greatest Teen Drama of All Time” by New York magazine and “4th TV’s Biggest Guilty Pleasure” by AOL TV.

According to the press release, the original plot of the much-awaited reboot is:

“Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teenagers are introduced to social surveillance of Gossip Girl. The prestige chain will address just as much social media — and New York’s landscape — itself has changed over the intervening years. “

To begin, even though there is no confirmation as to whether any of the original cast are appearing on the show, the makers have confirmed that Kristen Bell will make her return as the show’s narrator. On the possibility of the return of the original actors, the listener Schwartz revealed,

“We have reached out to all of them to let them know that this is happening and if they want to get into it we will fall in love with them, but certainly do not want to make it accidental. [them being involved]. He played these characters for six years, and if he felt that he was good with that, we wanted to honor him, but obviously … it would be great to see him again.

The show will be set in the same universe as the original show. So, the characters would attend the same high school i.e. Constance Billard, wear the same uniform as the characters on the original show, and stay in the high East Side.

The show will also have a lot of queuing content and will address current world events.

The reboot of ‘The Gossip Girl’ has started filming and on 6 NovemberTh, In 2020, newcomers Eli Brown and Whitney Peak were seen shooting in New York City, all dressed as they walked out of a building in the rain. The first two episodes are being directed by Kareena Evans, who has directed the music video for singer Drake in the past. The first look assured fans that the reboot would be even bigger on the fashion front and that it has shattered fans’ expectations. The series will be released in 2021 on HBO Max.
