Former Brazilian star Ronaldo gave his opinion on Argentina winning the 2022 World Cup by defeating France in the final 4-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw in the match.
Ronaldo said, in an interview with the Brazilian “Apostagolos” station: “I would be lying if I said that I wished to see the Argentines win. Perhaps Argentina does not play the most beautiful football, but it plays with incredible passion and desire.”
He added, “All Argentines play and run together. They have Lionel Messi, who can make the difference at any time, as he did it again in this Grand Final.”
And the 2002 world champion continued, saying: “Before the start of the World Cup, I wanted to see a final between France and Brazil. This was also my expectation. Brazil was already eliminated in the quarter-finals, but at least the French team met my expectations.”
Ronaldo explained: “The French national team was present in the tournament from the beginning and showed that it wants to be world champions again. From my point of view, it was the favourite.”
He added, “It is a strong team in all positions, and it succeeded in making up for the absence of many players due to injuries without problems, which is something that few teams hardly do.”
