Netflix Quietly Tests Variable Playback Speed In Android App

If it’s taking too much time for you to binge that entire season of Quicksand in one weekend, then good news — Netflix is testing an option to allow users play episodes faster.

The company is testing a playback rate option on its own Android app. Consumers on Twitter have been mentioning the feature for several weeks, but it seems to be part of a limited rollout test.

When Seeing articles on Netflix, a few Android users have a Speed alternative on the video playback menu, next to the Subtitles & Audio menu. In the Speed menu, there are options to decrease the rate to 0.5x or 0.75x, an choice to set playback to normal (1x speed), or choices to set the rate to 1.25x or 1.5x.
