Why South Dakota Will Win State
South Dakota State was not always spectacular in a 24–20 win over Northern Iowa, but it was spectacular when it had to happen.
Mark Gronowski was not considered a shining star at quarterback, but he was able to lead the way on a superb final drive and a quiet, calm touchdown with 19 seconds to play, and held out for the defense . Victory.
The D was superb throughout – the Panthers could not lick – and was superb on the third down. O should be stronger and more consistent, but can protect if That Again, this is going to come with a 2–0 spectacular start with two nasty tests on the road.

The North Dakota defense was far from perfect against Southern Illinois, but they came away with five takeaways in a 44–21 win that landed a minor stunner.
The defensive front allowed nothing to do on the ground, forced all of those mistakes, and exited the offense to take advantage of opportunities to pull away in the third quarter.
