A company that was selling custom PS5 faceplates was forced to cancel its pre-orders and remove its products following legal action from Sony.
According to VGC, CustomizeMyPlates.com was initially known as Platform 5. Canceled all orders and dropped out of the sale of the PlayStation 5 faceplate.
PlateStation5.com was asked to rebrand following a complaint. It was heartening after Sony alleged that the company’s name was an infringement of its trademark.
Well, the lawyers on Sony said that if the firm continues to sell the PlayStation 5’s faceplay, then they will have to end up in court.
Following the video, the franchise for the PS5 was selling unofficial faces in which Sony showed that the official white plates are removable. It was working with UK manufacturers and China. They were aiming to ship the first products to the customer within two weeks of the launch of the next-gen console.
CustomizeMyPlates told VGC that they did their due diligence and were moving forward because Sony only had patents pending on the mouthpiece. Therefore, it was legally allowed to make its choices.
But, a day later, the company was asked to change its name by Sony’s lawyers. And they were also told that if they continue to sell and distribute them in any country, Sony may take some legal action against CustomizeMapplets (then Platfom). Therefore, the company is now returning and canceling all orders.
However, the products appear to be listed on the website even after a long time. Well, they have now been removed.
Sony, recently announced that accessibility features will allow the user to turn off the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of DualGene.
