After the central government decided to rule against creating a separate autonomous body there And Prakash Javadekar, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting (I&B), a digital streaming platform, asked the media fraternity to set an example using “responsible freedom”. He argued this on Monday with the censor board’s denial.
The Center brought all digital and online media, films and audio-visual programs, news and current affairs content under the domain of the Ministry of I&B last Wednesday (11 November). It was issued by the Cabinet Secretariat, in which the President signed the notification, which made all the above material available to I&B and its minister. But as we know, on Monday, I&B said they were not interested in censoring or controlling TheMiracleTech platforms and online news platforms.
Of course, there were some concerns about the inclusion of unwanted illegal material and the government announced that there were plans to create surveillance techniques to monitor and help TheMiracleTech for this particular issue. I and B have asked all TheMiracleTech platforms and digital streaming services to be vigilant and have an idea of what they are looking for for the country.
Minister Prakash Javadekar said that “over the top platforms” do not require regulatory bodies or self-regulatory systems. Freedom of expression should not be stopped and every streaming platform has the right to display any artistic content. The minister further states that there is only “good” and “bad” material, and that it is rooting out “bad” material which they should aim to do.
